Revaigamer and Resident Evil 2

Made a blog since I needed a place to write stuff down D: Recently I've been finding the games I could never beat/get far in and RE2 is one of them..

I had Resident Evil 2 when I was a kid but could never even get to the police station (might have been because I didn't know how to switch from the knife to the gun rofl), but my older brother knew how to play it, and would scare the sh*t out of me when I watched lol.. but he would always die not very far into the police station (we didn't have a working memory card, so trying to no-save run the game each time = fail). He sold the game to someone else (I think my mom made him do it xD, I was having nightmares about that game), and that was that... fast forward 8 years or so, and I find a copy in a random shop... I buy it, determined to beat the friggen thing.

I play it for a while (jumpy as hell and avoiding the zombie-smash-window scene in the restaurant D: ) , managed to get to the police station part at last, and get to the licker-crawling-past window room. For some reason I remember the corridor to the window being a lot longer, and looking at it now it would have been scarier that way (ie; you're walking along the corridor with a window at the end and just when you reach the end; HOLY SH*T WHAT IS THAT *heart attack*, but instead it's just you turn around a corner and it crawls past, whatever too much rambling).
I turned the game off at this point. Ya I'm a pussy =D

I decided to find a video walkthrough for the game on Youtube, since if I knew when crap was going to suddenly jump at me, I could properly play it. I found 'pyschadelicsnake's' 'walkthrough', and ended up watching the whole playthrough (funny as hell walkthrougher, I'm now officially a fan xD ). After starting a new game I played my game almost entirely along to the walkthrough, and after getting past the first licker, the arms groping out of the walls and the licker smashing through the mirror, it was actually 10 times less 'scary' than I thought it'd be (there was only a few 'popup' suprise moments, I thought there'd be tons), and when I finally completed the game (today), here's my results/ranking:

Leon A

Rank: E

Time: 7:27

19 saves

Oh dear xD... I'm pretty sure I left the game running unattended more than once though; considering the walkthrough I was following had around a 2 hour time...

I'm thinking of doing Leon A once or twice more, this time without the walkthough, before moving onto Claire B, so I can properly follow the story and get better at the controls (and improve my rank a bit)..

Overall, really the game was much easier, shorter, and less scary than I thought it would be (although that'll probably change once I tackle claire B), a lot of it having to do with following a walkthrough though...
